        I already had purchased the folding bookshelf, and so I ordered the 28" top shelf. I use it to hold a 26"Flatscreen TV. It is sturdy, and it is a perfect match to the bookshelf(maple).

        I bought two of these with the top shelf for my bedroom . I assembled one and my husband the other. Both broke during top shelf assembly. The dowels went right through the top shelf. I wouldn't recommend the top shelf because of the assembly problem. Also not too sturdy, so I don't recommend putting anything heavyweight on them. They do look very nice though and are perfect to display lightweight items or books.

          Always thought I'd buy another bookcase to stack on the one I have, but decided not to. So when I saw the picture of the same bookcase, it was time to buy the topshelf to my bookcase. When I got the shelf, it is made of thinner wood and the connecting of it is totally different. But it will definitely work when I got done making the changes to it. Thank you.

                  The extra shelf makes the bookcase even more useful. You can add books to the top and place some handsome bookends on the ends--or use it as a display shelf. Right now it is holding my Christmas angel and some other holiday decorations.
