I worried that pie filling would leak through the bottom, but the mesh is close together, and I had no problems at all (at least on a pecan pie). I did cut the pie with a plastic "lettuce knife" to avoid damaging the screen. The bottom crust had good texture everywhere.

I tried the crispy crust pan on a custard pie for it's initial run. I was pleased that the overall pie crust browned evenly and the best part was..........the bottom crust was not soggy! I did not find it hard to clean at all. I'm trying a pecan pie next, that will be the real test. I've been looking for a solution to the soggy bottom problem forever........finally!! Cheers!!

I love baking pies but had difficulty determining whether the bottom crust was fully baked. With the mesh bottom I don't have to bake as long and end up with burned top edges. Only thing I don't like is that it is rather light weight; would be even better if it was teflon coated!

If you want a tender non-soggy cream pie, I suggest the crispy crust pie pan. I had almost giving up baking my cream pies until I purchased the wonderful pie pan. My family is very happy now.
